Perhaps it's just because I'm older now, but what is it that drives younger gamers to deliberately cause strife in forums like this?
You'll find it more in a game forum than anywhere else, with the exception of perhaps a Chevy vs. Ford thread
I dunno, perhaps it's just a general lack of respect for the opinions of others, or the fact that concept of debating the different aspects of a topic are out of their grasp.
I love conversations, whether real or online. I learn from them, and try to interject my thoughts when appropriate into discussions I know little about, to learn more about it.
Yet, I see from time to time in gaming forums, posts that are just plain childish, and not in a fashion that is meant to be harmless.
Flame Baiting, flaming, cursing, just plain nonsense.
Understand that I know that those of you under the age of 20 around here just want to have some fun, but the thing I notice is, that when you make a post, or comment on one and are trying to have a little fun with it, you are all mostly civil about it.
At worst, it's usually a poke with a stick. But some people come and join the forum and post with a club.
Thread Bludgeoning....that's what I'm going to call it.
But really...why? Behavior like that is dealt with swiftly and harshly, and yet some continue the behavior until they are banned or just leave because they aren't getting the kind of response they were looking for. Usually it's just plain banishment, which is sad, considering the good that this site does in it's ability to reach out to everyone that frequents it.
So, why do these 20 post members do it?
