HOw To Open Up Ports To Send And Receive Files

I wanna open up ports for sending and receiving files through AIM instant messenger how do i do that>?

My Model Number is BEFW11S4 Lynksys

and also i am setting up Winmx and it also cannot connect i just wanna assign 1 specific port to be open for all my stuff. i know how to get to the lynksys control panel at the IP address but just dont know what to do from there with my settings

1. You don't have the option of setting one specific port "for everything"... its application specific

2. With BEFSR11 AIM file sending/receiving works by default ... ICQ is messed up though.

Have you tried updating the firmware of your wireless router?

no How can i update the firmware im sure its outdated and i can receive files on AIM just cant send any and i wanna connect my WINMX but cant either cuz it doesnt recognize any ports when im setting winmx up it mentions something about a broadband firewall router and that if im using one to manually configure it but i dont know what ports are open to assign them in the winmx setup

Go over to the Linksys site and you'll find firm ware updates for their products and an explaination on how to download and install them.

Also if you're in the setup for your router, you should pretty much be able to pick on. There's really a lot of them
