what is that AT connector for on an ATX PSU

OK i was just wondering what that little connector, that looks like an AT connector, on an ATX PSU is for?

Sweeper is on a distinguished road
Some of the new PSU's are now adding a SATA connector. Most likely that is what it is.

It is not a SATA connector, it is like an AT connector

Well my son changed out his case and power supply the other day.

There was a place to plug into on his MB.

The stamping on the MB said "power supply."

He didn't know where his MB manual was so I told what the hell - plug it in.

And it was an AT like connector.

I dont know its kind of annoying to just have that connector hanging in my case. I Kinda wanna cut it off. lol but then what if I need it?

Maybe PS makers didn't know what kind of connector would be used for the extra 12v connector. Some use a regular HD connector instead of the square one

this isnt a regular HD connector. It looks like and AT style connector

Yes,all my power supplies have them, I think it is a third way to add the extra 12v leg to newer motherboards. There is probably no standard.
