no beeps, wont boot :(

hey all. i just built a new pc and it wont boot. hen i turn it on, the fans start up, the hard drive spins up, the cdrom led blinks, and thats it. there are no beeps from the system speaker and no video signal going to the monitor. the only thing i can think that might be wrong is the power supply might be bad and/or not sufficient. it is a 300w power supply and im using it with an athlonxp 2500+. i know 300w is a little on the low side but i thought it would be enough. i guess not. please tell me the power supply is the problem because i would much rather buy a new power supply than spend hours trying to figure out what the problem is. below is a list of all the parts:

ECS mainboard for amd processors
athlonxp 2500+
512mb crucial ddr pc2100
gf2 mx400
80gb wd hdd
cd burner/dvd rom
300w psu

i think thats all you should need to know, if not ill gladly give you more details!

thanks!

a friend of mine had the same problem: in the end it was the PSU but actaully he had a 9700Pro which requires a more powerful PSU than 300W.

I would try switching your PSU.

update

ok, i got a new power supply, didnt fix it. so i got a new motherboard, and yay it works!! for about 5 minutes, then when i go to restart it after setting all the bios settings the way i want them, it does the same thing again. spinnging fans, spinnig hard drive, cdrom activity, no beeps, no video signal. so i think "well i probably just set something wrong in the bios" so i clear the cmos with the jumper, but it still wont boot. i am getting desperate here and i cant figure out the problem. ive tried booting with nothing but the mobo ram and cpu, still nothing. ive tried reseating the ram, nothing. PLEASE HELP ME!!!
