2500+ Runs Hot
I can't give very detailed descriptions cuz this isn't one of my comps, it's my friend's. He has a Gigabyte 7N400 Pro2 with an XP 2500+ Barton. It's OCed to 11x200 but at stock voltage settings.
He tried four different HSFs on it (not sure on the models): stock cooler, Speeze, Zalman (all-copper flower heatsink), and right now it's on a Volcano 11+. The best temps he got were from the Volcano, they were around 52 degrees on full load. He has plenty of air circulation in his case, but he also tried leaving the side panel off.
Any ideas on how to lower the temps on his CPU?

i ran a gigabyte board for awhile with my 2500 same overclock ratio and had high temps, not sure if it's the board or not but when i got my MSI board the temps lowered some to aroun 48C, put on a Vantec Aeroflow heatsink and fan and now runs temps of 32C. Hope this helps?
my mistake....that's idle, under load it runs around 40C

Could it really be the mobo? He spent a lot of money on that particular one. I don't think he'd be willing to buy another one.

Is he using AS III? If so, does he have enough on there?

tell him to stop tripping at 52C at full load . thats nothing to worry about . the diode could also be reading wrong . so tell him not to worry if under full load it is 52 there is no big deal . touch the heatsink with your finger , 52c is like 126f at 126f it will almost be bruning hot if it ain't i would think it is not reading right .

Okay, told him that those temps are fine. Also, I did some research and found out that this particular mobo tends to exaggerate the temperature readings. Thanks for the help, guys.
Btw, he has AS3 on it.
