Overclocking a 3.0GHz P4 HT on a Intel 875 MoBo

I have one of those 3GHz hyper thread (not extreme) P4's on a Intel D875PBZ base motheboard with 4GB of ram. The CPU has one of the huge quiet cool fans with the air scoop and there are 3 in case fans as well, 2 right behind the airscoop. I also run a stock GeForce Ultra 5950 video card with 2 36 gig 10k rpm SCSI drives, if this info helps.

What should I be able to overclock this to you think based on what I have and still remain safe and stable?

I'm pretty good with hardware but I've never got to much into overclocking. Any help would be great, thanks.

Probably good for an easy 600mhz with basic bios manipulating---
Cpu database shows an average of 3680 Mhz for 40 entries...

Is this just done in the bio's by changing the multiplier? I thought most mobo's used auto detect on the CPU for that.

You accually won't be able to overclock your cpu at all, there is absolutely no overclocking options on any Intel motherboard, even their high end boards like the D875PBZ. This is most likely because overclocking a cpu will void your warranty as far as Intel is concerned.

If you want to overclock your processor you will need a new motherboard

you can not change the multiplier on any cpu anymore they are all factory locked...nowadays all overclocking is done by upping the fsb and the v-core if it is needed...this means for best results that you will need not only a new motherboard but probobally new ram as well because it also needs to run at the same speed of the fsb to be stable and most ram cannot oc as much as most cpus
