Monitor Lines

hello,

i have made a thread about this problem previously..

my monitor is producing a wave pattern on the right hand side of everything displayed..

last week i bought an Acer AL718 LCD TFT 17" and it's not looking too flash with all these lines..now it says in the manual, that if a wave pattern is presented in the picture, then other electrical devices maybe causing interference. so i move everything into my other lounge, where there is nothing but a light, and it still does the same thing...

can anyone please provide me with some suggestions on what to do or how to go about getting rid of these horrid lines..

I assume this is electrical interference through your electrical wiring. Maybe if you plugged the monitor into a UPC [battery power backup] These are supposed to clean and regulate the power in addition to providing backup.

thx for your ever so quick reply

but, i do not know what a UPC is ;x..

could it be that im plugging straight from the monitor to my 4way power adapter, and not running from the PC's PSU?

are you using a vga extension cable? those often cause such patterns

do the patterns appear if you use a different monitor?

yes there is another monitor on which the patterns appear, which is brand new aswell i might add..19" Acer CRT

both monitors and PC's are plugged into the same power adapter, which is actually a 6way.

You wouldn't happen to have a unshielded speaker next to or near the monitor?

not unshielded no...i have two hugemungus speakers sitting at the very top of my desk, above the monitor.

but it being my speakers wouldn't explain how previous to me moving PC locations, the new acer 19" was in the lounge...no speakers, still displaying the lines.

I don't know about before, but those puppies look like they have some good size magnets in them.
