Eh? Why do you need the IDE routed to printer port (parallel)? Explenation is def needed if we are going to be ANY help at all.

Are you trying to connect a hard drive / cd rom through your parallel port?
If so will this do the trick?

You need an external cdrom. They function exactly as described.
I'd bet someone here has one they'd like to sell you.

IDE to parallel port is gonna Be SLOOOOOOOOW. USB/USB2 or firewire will woop its butt so bad. That is seriously gonna be super slow transfer speeds.
