Systems Can't delete Vid file

I have a video File I recorded using Fraps, it's a HUGE file (just over 3Gb) And I'm done with editing it and finished the movie, But I can't delete the damn thing now! I try to and it says that it's too big for the recycling bin and will need to jsut be completely deleted. Ok, Fine just delete it I say but NOOOO, it then tells me that it's being used by another person or program, and I KNOW that it isn't. How do I get rid of this space hog?

well Make sure fraps and any video editing program you are using or were using with the file recently is closed. if you have norton then try killing it with the file sweeper program or whatever it's called. (wipe info, in system maintenence) maybe if you tried booting in safe mode, it'll delete then.

Make sure any programs you used to edit the file aren’t still open. If everything is closed go ahead and restart the computer and try again. I've had this happen to me a few times, a restart always fixes it.

Is it a .avi file?......if it is there is a registry tweak that will stop the error happening, used it loads of times with no probs

To solve this problem all you have to do is the following:

1. Open up regedit
2. Goto HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.avi\shel lex\PropertyHandler
3. Delete the "Default" value which should be "{87D62D94-71B3-4b9a-9489-5FE6850DC73E}"

Voila! Please not that this will no longer provide you with the windows properties displaying the AVI file information such as width, height, bitrate etc. But its a small price to pay for saving you resources.

NOTE: Please use caution when using regedit. Improper usage may cause windows to behave imcorrectly. Also, I cannot be held resposible. Backup your registry first.

Good luck.
