Talk New Windows XP... Reloaded?

YEA!!!!

Microsoft MIGHT be creating an "interim release".
Based on XP but released before Longhorn.

So we'll be GRACED with the ability to pay them another 200 bucks for a SLIGHTLY better version of XP!

Microsoft is considering updating Windows XP before it releases Longhorn, the code name for a major overhaul of the industry's dominant operating system that is not expected for about two years.

Issuing an update to XP would represent a significant shift for the software maker, which for months has insisted that it had no plans to create a separate version of Windows before Longhorn. A company executive confirmed to CNET News.com on Thursday that Microsoft is now discussing a product internally referred to as "Windows XP Reloaded."
ya know... I wish I could buy a brand new car wait 2 years... put BRAND NEW wiper blades on it and sell it for the same price... that would rock!
However, I am not as talented in business as Microsoft... *sigh*

I'm no MS-lover, but at least they're better than Apple, right?

Don't Mac users have to pay for each of the OSX upgrades? 10.2 and then 10.3, etc..

Granted I think the price of XP is outrageous, but at least they're not releasing upgrades every six months and charging for it. I'm very surprised that MS has not switched to subscription plans for some of it's major updates and service packs.

QCompson - That was their reason for that last blundered licensing scheme/scam they did
licensing 6 or osmething like that I think its called

Designed for corporations really
You pay a boatload of money and you're basically paying ahead for the upgrades for the next 5 or 6 years....
BUT if they dont' have any major upgrades in that period of time... you're SOL.
