Printers way too slow -- how come?

Fellow Members:

I use a HP LaserJet (parallel-port) for BW and a Canon USB for color prints.

Ever since changing motherboards (though I seem to recall a problem just prior to that event, but ...) both of my printers take forever to begin printing. In this equation, {forever} = 1.5 min.

In the words of one of my favorite actors from a movie that only Woody Allen fans might enjoy, " what's the deal?"

The message I receive does mention "spooling." I suspect this may be a clue. They don't call me Sherlock for nothing. Now that I think about it, no one calls me Sherlock!

Any ideas what " the deal is?" or what the settings should be set to in my BIOS?

Thanks.

Brangwen

Motherboard = Asus A7N8Xe

Windows? The spooler can be set to start printing when data start coming in, or wait until the spooling application has submitted the complete job. Adjust in the printer's own properties.

Also check that bi-directional printing / full duplex (depends on the printer) is checked.

Run services.msc and set Print Spooler to Automatic. Start it, too.
