Kids Compaq TFT5000 LInes on screen

Has anyone repaired a compaq TFT5000 LCD monitor with horizontal lines on the screen? I have a few units with this problem and would like to be able to fix them. The units make a buzzing sound and have horizontal line flashing over the screen. Other than the lines over the picture the display looks good and is usable, just annoying. I have tried the voltage inverter for the backlights and that did not make any difference.

Those are symptoms of a bad controler or broken signal wire either in ribbon from lcd to controler or on input side.. Backlight has nodda to do with lines on screen. Its just a CFL (Compact flourescent) bulb.

I have checked the ribbon cable to the LCD display and with it connected or not you still get the squeel sound. Also if the inverter cables and 15 pin cab le to CPU are both unplugged it still makes the sound. You said something about another cable, which one are you talking about? Have you repaired the driver board on any units? I have repaired some units that made this sound by resoldering a CAP that had a bad solder joint but I have checked these and that CAP is good.
