I'd reccomend looking for the FP767 model. That is what I am using right now and it is an outstanding monitor. It has all the competitive specs and 16ms response time. I got mine for $350 shipped at tigerdirect.com but they didn't have any last time i looked.

Newegg has the FP 767-v2 for $405 shipped. This should be pretty much the same thing as the plain one..... looks like it is just some extra colors(mine came in white and charcoal).

edit- ps don't buy this monitor for the built in speakers....but most people don't anyways.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I really want it in black. Which I see NewEgg has for an extra $10, but then again, those speakers are butt ugly.

The 16ms response time is attractive I must admit.

Keep the comments coming!

I have the FP767 (mines black also) and I love it. If you plan on using it for gaming the 16ms response time is the way to go IMO. I have played UT2003, Medieval:Total War, Morrowind, and Everquest on mine and they all look fantastic.

I would have to 2nd the suggestion for the FP767-v2 if you plan to game on your LCD.

edit: They do have the
FP767-v2 in black also.

Okay okay!

If both of you suggest it I might just reconsider it.

Hummm..

Lots of thought here

[EDIT] Question, is 500:1 or 450:1 contrast ratio better?

According to this:

Quote:
A way of expressing the purity of colors in a projected image. Expressed as XXX:1. The higher the contrast ratio, the deeper and richer the coloring. An average contrast ratio is 500:1.
500:1 would be better than 450:1. Right?

Yes! THe best Ive seen is 900:1. IT tells ya how well say a dark scene with someone in the shadows will be. If ratio is low-it will look solid black no detail. If its high-you will see the person etc. Also effects pure white scenes aswell. Contrast is the measurment of how well a crystal can block the light from passing through (darkness). Speed or "responce time" is how quick it can switch from as dark as it can get to fully light (showing red, green or blue depending on the crystal in question.)

Well it looks like as soon as I get the cash together I'll go for the BenQ FP767-v2 (Black/Silver) 17 incher.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys!
