Kids XP hardware wizard

Hi Folks; Running winxp tried to attach a digital camera to system to read the pictures. In the process the hardware wizard turned on and subsequently failed to find a driver for camera.

My problem is that now everytime I boot up the hadware wizard appears on the desktop. I can simply hit cancel and it goes away but I would like to eliminate this from happening.

Help please
thx JimK:

When the wizard failed to find the driver, why didn't you put in the driver disk to install it?

Make sure in device manager that its not still showing up
Believe it shows up under imaging or something like that

Start --> Control Panel --> System click on the Hardware tab, and there is a button in there to get to device mangler

(or you can hit Windows Key + Pause/Break to pull it up)

Thanks for the reply. Didn't have driver disk for XP, just '98.
tried to have Wizard instal a driver, it couldn't find driver so tried to go ahead and now have this problem.

Tried your fix, when I pull up "mangler" nothing is on this page, just empty screen.

thx, Jim

You need to finish the install or delete the camera from 'Imaging Devices' in the Control Panel.

The easiest way to pull up the 'Device Manager' is to right click on 'My Computer' and then drag to 'Properties' left click, hit the 'Hardware' tab and then the 'device manager' button, IMO of course.

You might be able to get an updated driver from whom ever makes the camera off the web.

Thanx Wallie_x:

Attempted to get driver, mfg says no go. Junked the camera!

Took your suggestion and found "unknown imaging device" attempted to uninstal but XP refused, said " this device may be needed to boot your computer"
Since I couldn't uninstal I disabled, than rebooted and it seems to work. Lets hope it is the fix.

Thanx JimK

Thanx to all that replied!!
