Misc MUST SEE: Upgrade from 9800SE to 9800PRO

My friend give me the folllowing info for upgrade 9800SE to 9800PRO!!
************************************************** *
Power Color (~only) RADEON 9800SE 128MB video card model ( R98SE-C3 ) was based entirely on the RADEON 9800 PRO ( XF98-C3L ) design, there is NO difference betweeen the chipset , memory , resistors, the pin out, etc are identical except that the pipelines as below

Radeon 9800PRO 8 pixel pipelines
Radeon 9800SE 4 pixel pipelines

The RADEON 9800SE video card it can be unlock from 4 pipelines to 8 pipelines as follow

The step to change the 4 pixel pipelines to 8 pixel pipelines for Radeon 9800 SE r98xe-c3 (128MB 256 bits)?

1) Download the Omega drivers 2.5.22 from omega homepage http://www.omegacorner.com/index_ati.html

2) When you start install the driver, you should pick the option "Soft-Mod 9800SE Omega Driver 9800SE -> 9800 NP/Pro/XT".

3) Actually, it is already unlock the other 4 pipelines when the driver finish installed. However, you cannot really tell from video properties. You should download riva tuner software http://download.guru3d.com/rivatuner/

4) After installed the riva tuner, you can see the 4 pipelines are already unlocked.
************************************************** *
3DMark 03.
9800 Pro has 5401 points.
9800 SE (4 pipelines) has 3626 points.
After unlocked 9800 SE (8 pipelines) has 5151 points.
************************************************** **
Save $$$$ and Enjoy it!

Not all SE cards use the PCB with 8pipes.

Also some of the gpu's they use had other 4 pipes switched off cause-they were defective. Pixelation and other oddities happen often. Instead of ATI loosing $ they simply turn half off run the 4 good ones and sell it at a lower price/performance range.

One of the user reviews I read at newegg said that there were artifacts after trying this... I'm sure it will work for some, but its definatly not gauranteed by any means.

If you are successfully unlock the video, it will show as following~~

If you are successfully unlocked it, you will see the picture as below:

Also, it seems Power Color is the only manufacturer who has this special 9800SE video card. Others will not work.

Good luck pal!

Nor will ALL of the power color 9800se's. Thats what we are warning folks of. Not all the GPU's other 4 pipes work. REGARDLESS of the pcb of card used. Its really just luck-meaning dont base your purchase descion on this factor alone.
