Windows Xp Problems

Hi ive been searching through other posts about windows xp crashes and i am having similar problems. My computer will just randomly freeze when i try to play games and sometimes even in the middle of movies. I tried installing the service pack and i updated my video card drivers. Its a VooDoo 4. I even went and upgraded to a 480 watt power supply that is running cooland my processor also isnt overheating so i am wondering wut the problem mite be. If neone can help me plz respond.

Check the event logs and see if anything is logged regarding this crash.

To open the event logs do this:

Start>Settings>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Event Viewer

What version of XP, Professional or Home? Also do you have SP1 installed? If so this could be the problem. Not sure though.

Sound card drivers could easily be the blame for this. Did you try replacing them?

Also how old are the games you are playing, many new games wont work on the Voodoo cards.

Since 3dfx is no longer, what Voodoo drivers are you using? Try here for 3rd party Voodoo drivers

I had a similar problem while playing games. Reinstalling video card drivers did the trick.

Are you updating the sound using windows update? If so go get the real drivers from the manufacturer. If you are unsure where post the model sound card and I am sure we can help.

Mine were up to date too, but apparently it was a bad driver or something. Since after I deleted it, and reinstalled the same version of them, it worked fine.
