Systems Nothing beats the Trojan

I am really confused here. I have Windows XP and currently got infected with a trojan. I am using norton anti-virus and stinger, both are supposed to get rid of it, but cannot. The file that is infected is C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup. Is there any way I can get rid of the trojan, or do I have to reformat my hard drive? Thanks anyone who helps.

Welcome to TechIMO!!

Try downloading, install, and run The Cleaner .

Specifically for trojans.

30 day free trial.

Update the definitions before scanning.

I downloaded the cleaner and I am 100% sure that it was fully updated. However, the I still cannot get rid of the trojan. The name of the trojan is the Trojan.Bookmarker.D Do you know if this trojan has any effects on my computer or things I do? If you have any more ideas, I'm up for anything. Thanks again.

Trojans are evil.
I also got infected by this trojan, not Norton, not PC-Cillin, not Mcafee (all antivirus software that I had at the moment) could get rid of the stinky bull. Well I downloaded the free version of AVG and it finally got rid of it.

If you can run an assembler language debugging program on the file , its modifications lately, and their sourcee(s), and compare the out put with a copy of the file from your master disk, then I think you can get the job done, though you may need to reset some defaults else where.. etc.

Sincerely,

Jerry Szyka jerry_szyka@yahoo.com as well

hey jerry. just a tip but you might not want to put you email addy in the open like that. spam searchers will snatch it right up. something like blah (at) blah (dot) com will fix it or blahNOSPAM@blah.com.
