Why does my thumb drive stop working?

It will access for a second sometimes and then it will say no F: drive avaliable. I really need a file of of it. All I need it is 30 seconds.

try searching for new devices using the wizard windoze provides. you might need to install software drivers for that device. common problem if you're running win98 or earlier. it could be a loose connection too.

Yes, My windows 98 computer wouldn't recognize mine until i downloaded the drivers. Just check out the manufacurer's website.

I would reinstall drivers...other than that it is prolly a bad connection somewhere inside. I have washed mine in the clothes washer like twice now and it still works. Dont know how many more times I can get away with that.

Are you using windows 98? If so follow the suggestions above...

If you arn't or it doesn't work... what brand of drive are you using?

Poon, PC Format (UK Magazine) did a test on 6 pen drives and tried to destroy them, they hit them with a golf club, ran over them in a car, washed them in a washing machine, boiled them in water and 4 out of the 6 still worked.

I'm not so sure mine could withstand a golf club, it's only plastic.
