Kids uninstalling office 2000sr1 error 2203

I'm in a real tight spot here I've been trying to uninstall microsoft office 2000 sr1 and I keep getting an error 2203 internal error. I have been to microsoft support but they are no help I got the advice check on the data1.msi and make sure it is not on the read only perrmisions (which it is not) and to make sure I have user rights to to make changes in the system. I am logged in with administrative rights already. So if anyone can help me out it would be deeply appricated as to the fact my company is down till I get this taken care of. I need to remove office 2000 so I can install oficce xp sp3 so my discovery cracker applications can be fully up and runnig again. and yes I've tried to just prefrom an upgrade of office 2000 to xp and I get the same error message.
Many thanks and I hope I put this in the right forum.

I guess you can try installing it all over again. I mean just insert the Office 2000 CD in the CD-ROM Drive and see what options gives you. If you can installl alll over again then that's great because after you can uninstall it. But if no then you have to choose an option that says repair and then restart and again try to uninstall. Then you can install Office XP.
