Strange issue with Word
Ok, I have never seen this before but I hope someone has.
Word XP SP2, WinXP SP1
I have a user that opens Word and tries to click on the Tools Menu and the Tools Menu goes blank and crashes Word. He has uninstalled and reinstalled, same thing.
I tried removing the registry key for Word and let it rebuild, which it did, but same problem. I renamed the normal.dot, same issue.
He uninstalled Office XP and installed Office 2003 (he did not delete the registry keys) and it Word actually worked.......for a day. Now the same thing though now when he clicks on Tools, nothing happens, it does not display anything at all. At least it does not crash Word.
Is there someway to reset the toolbars?? Or another solution?

Sorry, we've got a virus problem at work that's been eating up all my time.
Have you got this to work yet? I was looking for my documentation on this and now remember it being a different problem. I do remember having to manually uninstall Adobe (it wasn't much fun) though and you'll need the directions for that.
Let me know if it's still a problem.

Seek out and delete the file normal.dot
This defualt template that gets corrupted will be recreated next time you go into word.

Ok, so updating my issue. I uninstalled the program, deleted the reg keys, deleted the MS Office dir and any other Office dirs in the hidden folders and under common.
Reinstalled and looks like it is working, for now. Last time I did this without the reg keys delete, it worked for a day and then we were unable to click on Tools, only in Word.
