AOL 9 and a wireless network problem

Hi
I am trying to install AOL 9.0 on a friends PC. Th PC accesses the internet via a wireless connection to a router that is hooked up to a cable modem.
The AOL install routine cannot "find" the cable modem and therefore fails.
The wireless connection works fine - I can access the interent with no problem via Internet Explorer.
AOL is no help saying "AOL does not guarantee access to your local area network (LAN) using a wireless router. Currently, AOL is unable to troubleshoot the configuration of networks, and AOL does not offer support for connections in a LAN environment."
So.....I'm asking you guys if any of you have dealt with this issue. It seems that the Adaware program has similar problems reaching the Internet to update its antispyware files as well.

Any ideas? Thanks

AOL has two settings for home networks. I think they're something like "TCP/IP" and "LAN" or "Network". Make sure you try both.

Make sure AOL is not looking for a modem, obviously. Use Expert Setup.

Thanks for the help. I think that I have resolved the situation by uninstalling the wireless network card and reinstalling it with the latest "Digitally Signed" drivers. What puzzles me is why, with the older drivers, AOL couldn't access the Internet when Internet Explorer could.

My Adaware program is now able to access the net for its update files as well.

Have a good weekend!
