Norton's Speed Disk nopdb.exe

I can't stop getting and error message from nopdb.exe.

It's part of Norton Speed Disk with Norton Utilities 2004.

I have turned it off in the options section of NU and changed the status to manual in the Services section of Administrative Tools (WinXP). But nothing seams to work. It constantly trys to access a HD (about every 5 min.) which then generates the run time error.

Any suggestions welcome.

The file probably got corrupted somehow.
Did you updated the software or something?

I re-installed from scratch and no sign of the nopdb.exe problem yet.

But here is another problem:

The NU Live Update "Stop Light" icon under the Norton System Doctor, always stays red. I have updated many times but it never has turned green.

Again, any help welcome.

I get that error everytime I try to do a analysis of the fragmentation of a disk. Started with 2003 version and has continued since then.

Even though it complains, everything seems to work. I copied a new file every place I could think of that might be where it was looking but it still complains.

I had this problem once and the only way I could fix it without formatting was to uninstall norton first then do a search within windows for "norton" & "symantec" then do a registry search for "norton" & "symantec", you will find several hundred orphaned entrys, takes the better part of an hour to find and delete them all, needless to say nortons uninstall sucks.
