Laptop HD upgrade Help

I am upgrading my laptop hard drive and I was wondering how can I copy all the information from one HD to the next sorta like ghost?

Ghost will be kinda of tough since you will only have one hard drive connected while the other is lying on the table next to you.

If it was me I would tranfer the needed files to CD, zip or even a networked pc if able and do a clean install on the new drive.

You can also by ide adapters which will allow you to connect the old hard drive to a full size pc enabling you to move data like I said above.

If you dont have the restore software that came with it , have the other programs you have on there or have the ability to move the data to another source then its going to be tough.

how about using a network to copy all the important stuff to some other harddisk?
if you are set on creating an image of the hd, you could make an image of your hd, copy it to another disk via network, install the new disk to your notebook, it up using a bootable disk which has network support and then install the image from the place where you stored the image.
