Media DVD Burning Help & Pointers

Hello,

Last night I finally went out and bought a 4x Pioneer DVD+/- burner, and now it's all setup and ready to go!

Now, I've never researched or bothered to look up info on the BEST way to record DVDs in the past. So, could someone just basically tell me which is the BEST program to use when making DVDs? And perhaps any info someone should know when he's new to the DVD burning scene

I used to make a lot of VCDs in the past, and they always turned out stuttery and crappy, so obviously I'd wish to stay away from that...

Thanks for the future help.

Check out the articles section for my articles on copying DVDs. There are 3 parts.

I recomend using a DVD Shrink and Nero combo for 1 click quick back ups or if you have the time and software you can make more advanced back ups if you have the time.

I like DVDShink. It's free. It can be set to burn autogically with Nero, or you can just save the files to HD and burn with your favorite app. I like RecordNow Max for burning.

Thanks,

Those programs are all great for COPYING other DVDs, but what program would you guys suggest for CREATING DVDs. I mean, creating cool custom menus, and making a video compilation of my favorite TV shows and such.

So far the help is great, guys.

if you wanna go crazy with menus you cant beat Adobe Encore DVD. Make custom menus and buttons using Photoshop and Encore together and make motion menus as well.

I use Encore also and like it. Some friends have spoke well of Pinnacle's software, but I haven't used it. I haven't had much luck with EasyCD's DVD software...nice interface, but sometimes doesn't transcode properly. Note, you'll also need Flash or After Effects if you want to make fancy animated menu transitions.
