A7N8X-X WinXP Won't Install

I have a newly purchased ASUS A7N8X-X mb with a newly purchased AMD 2600 XP (333mhz), and new Antec 450W PS.

My problem is this. When I try and install XP, I get a stop error shortly into the setup phase basically telling me to turn off all BIOS caching or shadowing. Of course this is turned off, but what I have to do to get into the gui phase is turn off both L1 and L2 caching. I know.

I have only successfully gotten a complete install one time, and then could only turn on the L1 caching to speed things up, problem is that it kept shutting down my pc when I accessed the "D:" partition. I installed my SBLive 5.1 board and then that was it.

Ok..my possible problems:

1. Crucial PC2100 memory (2x 256mb), tried installing with only one stick in and no joy.

2. CPU heatsink/fan is from AMD 1400 cpu I had previously. Can this be an issue?

Has anyone had these BIOS, L1, L2 caching issues from their ASUS A7N8X-X mobo??????

TS

Can you install another brand of RAM? May be an incompatability issue with the nForce2 baord and your RAM

HSF may not be seated properly and/or not enough or too much grease may have been applied.

Possibility, however remote, that PSU may be bad out of box.
