Kernel32.dll error message

I'm working on a Compaq with Windows 98 and a Kernel32.dll error message is always showing. Basically it's a page fault in KERNEL.DLL in 0177:bff87ed7.

I have a log from hijack this and i would like to know if somebody can take a look at it and tell me if there's anything in the log that can create problems.

I can see some of the entries in the log showing things that shouldn't be there but i need expertise on this, at least more expertise than my little one

If anybody want to take a look at it i can email the log so just pm me please.

Thanks

Update

I finally received some help with my problems.

This is what i did:

CW Shredder: Infected files
Ad-Aware: Tons of unwanted entries
SpyBot: Same here, tons of unwanted entries
HD Valet
Window Washer
Registry Mechanic
Norton (updated) no virus found
Win 98 updates

Seems like the error message from Kernel 32 is gone and all the error messages are also gone.

I still have some work to do on this particular computer today but for the most part it's working fine now.

Out of curiosity, is it possible to replace the KERNEL32.DLL file using Compaq Recovery CD or a Window 98 CD ?

I have downloaded from the web some solutions to try to fix that kind of problem basically adding some lines in C:\CONFIG.SYS or simply deleting the Windows Swap File, WIN386.SWP and letting it rebuild itself.

Earlier on today the problem was gone but it came back so i'm also back to troubleshooting again. I did the same clean up than yesterday using the same tools and if this is not working i will have to use the troubleshooting options that i have for CONFIG.SYS and else.

It's really annoying that a lot of steps have to be taken to fix a .dll file that decided not to work properly. Any ways to replace the faulty dll file will be a must....

Thanks again

I _think_ you can replace the kernel32.dll file, but I'm not positive. I remeber a freind taking the kernel from Win2K and throwing it in WinXP :P
