Uncached HDD speed

I recently did a test on PCPitstop and it said my Uncached speed of my HDD was 4.12MB/s which seems low, according to them. I have a 80GB 7200 RPM Western Digital hard drive. How can I improve this speed? I have 512MB RAM and a Athlon XP 1700.

I would NOT trust PCPitstop scores. They are notoriously incorrect. A scan of my system said my 'uncached' speed was over 800MB/sec (which is impossible)

Instead, I would take a look at other utilities, such as HDTach and ATTO Express (Click the Windows SCSI Utilities link)

If you have low scores with those tools, then you really may have a problem.
