Radeon 9600XT - A couple of issues

Hi

I have just installed a new Sapphire Radeon 8600XT (256Mb), along with the latest Catalyst drivers.

The rest of my system is as follows:
P4 3.0 Ghz 800Mhz FSB
2Gb 400 Mhz DDR RAM
Windows XP with SP1


I have a couple of issues:


1. Since installing the card, on bootup I get a "Using TV display" ATI Help box. This seems to indicate that the TV display is enabled, even though it doesn't appear to be in the display control panel. The control panel shows the monitor to be active with red crosses through the other display options.

I can turn this message box off via a check box, but that maybe just hiding the problem rather than curing it.

Is this a known issue, or am I missing something?




2. I have run 3D Mark03 and scored 3711. Looking at the online scores of other users, this is about 1000 marks lower than people with comparable systems.

Is there any reason for this, and is there a way to improve performance?

The TV box is just for your information. It does that with every new install. Just go ahead and check the box so it doesn't come up any more. Everything is as it should be.

As for as your bench mark score I don't know about that as I have a AIW 9800 Pro. Maybe someone who is more familiar with the 9600 will come along soon and answer that for you.

did you post correctly (8600XT) or is it a 9600XT ?

when you run benchmarks, do you disable as many programs as possible and also set your display settings to high performance under 3d and open GL to get max performance out of card? Also if you like, some people run the 3D Rage program and overclock the cards also for benchmarking purposes

I can only get 3095 on 3D2k3 using a 9600 pro 128
athlon xp 2500 @ 2.200Ghz FSB 200 X 11 with mem 1:1 ratio
1 gig OCZ DDR333 dual channel
K7N2 Delta L nForce 2 chipset 400 edition MB

but i am running an athlon setup, not intel...just my input

sorry, it is a 9600XT.....bit of a typo there.....

I did change the settings as you mentioned, it made a slight difference, but nothing spectacular.

I have since heard from a couple of people that the mark I had is about the expected result, the higher scores were probably on overclocked systems.
