Strange electrical problem - weird

Lately, out of the clear blue, my son's stereo and TV turn on all by themselves.

Do they accept RF(radio frequency) signals? If so someone near you, say one of your neighbors, has a Clicker or control pad that is using the same frequency as your sons. Change the frequency by going into the menu and selecting a different frequency. OR ask the neighbor to change his.

Sounds like some kind of "interference".

Could be a remote going bad (especially infrared).I'd start by taking the batteries out of the remote or remotes.

Does this happen at any particuar time of day? I'm thinking some sort of respoce to maybe a neighbor got something new and it is causing some reaction. I've even heard of some equipment reacting to certain types of flourescent lights and turning on or off.

I had a television that started to turn itself on once that turned out to be a bad light switch in the hall. It was an illuminated switch in line of sight with the set and the neon bulb in it had aged.

Surges can do it too. My fridge used to turn on our touch lamp.

There have been some thing doing that around here....... we figured them out to be that someone had set the alarms/timers on them. Having to teach everyone better than that now.

Hi Bill,
Did we help? Did the problem go away? Let us know what if anything is going on.

My PC used to turn itself off all the time, i changed my 4-way adapator and now works OK, it might be the plug socket?

Bill
Simplest explanation: Poltergeists

Problem is brought on by human males entering puberty.

You will need an exorcism, preferably including a virigin, to remedy this situation.

Uhhhh ............................... you do realize that I live in Southern California.

Where am I going to find a virgin?

I haven't figured it out yet. They do have ir remote controls but I can't see my neighbor doing it with theirs.

They are plugged into the same outlet. Maybe I'll go pick up a surge protector.

Was thinking of sleep walking but the last time it happened he was awake - at least he appeared to be.

Never know with a 13 year old.
