Kids Centrino Mobile Vs. Pentium 4 Mobile

Ok i have read some stuff about this but tell me from your guys experience what the real difference is.

the Centrino is the Pentium M processor comes in speeds up to 1.7ghz. But is said to outperform Pentium 4 2.6ghz processors?

This sounds great but is it actually true? You combine the Pentium M and the Intel 855 chipset and the Intel Pro/wireless network cards to get the "Centrino" sticker on your laptop.

Would Centrino tehcnology stuff be powerful enough to run games like Halo for pc, Vice city and other fairly intense graphics games?

What is your experience with the Pentium M and Centrino?

Thank you O wise tech people!!!!

If I was to choose a processor for my notebook, and I have these two choices the I would choose Centrino. Why? Because it is IMO better designed for notebooks than a Pentium 4m. You get better battery life with Centrino, and the speed outperforms the Pentium 4m even if the clock speed is lower. But of course it is more expensive than the Pentium4m, but definetely better for a notebook. IMO of course.

the Pentium M Centrino tech stuff looks good. Longer battery life is a great bonus. My main concern is gaming. this will be my only pc when i get it and i will be very sad if it dosn't perform well on games that are graphics intense. Any experience with games and the Pentum M out there?

I guess if i order it and it dosn't work i can just return it in the 30 days and get my money back and go for a Pentium 4 M. but that would be a hassle

Look if you want something for gaming then get a desktop. Notebooks arent made for gaming. Why? Because they are more directed for business and traveling, plus there are no video cards as great and powerful as there is for desktops. I dont think the processor is the main thing to look for in a computer to know if it would be a great gaming system. Check the video card first. Try to find a notebook with a video card with minimum 64MB. NEither Centrino or Pentium 4m are made for gaming, so you will definetely see better results with a Pentium 4 or even better with an AMD Althon XP. But if you are going to go for a notebook, get one with Centrino, since you wont get better results in terms of gaming with a Pentium 4m anyways. But if you do want an extremely powerful notebook check out the Alienware notebooks here They are the best gaming notebooks around.
