Router Problem

Hey I am having a problem with my router (lol Groundzero). Well I think it is with my router. It will just stop sending signal to both of my computers. THe one is attached with a cat5 cable and the other one is wireless. I don't know if it is overheating or what. Netgear MR814 V.2, Windows XP Pro. TY for the help and if u need anymore info just say so. Also i have a linksys ethernet card and when I am having problems, the program always shows that the NETGEAR connection is available but it won't connect to it.

are you doing anything in particular when the network goes out?

What happens when you restart the router? Do you get a connection after that?

Did you use the winxp wizard to share off a printer or files or something?

No I was actually typing that post then went to a different page and it went out. I did system restore cuz it said like ip could not be renewed and that usually means that u have a corrupt registry. I just formated this computer on Friday so I don't think that would be it but I tried anyways. If I restart the router then it works fine but then like 5 min later it goes out again... I didn't try transfering anything. This morning I got up and went to use the wireless computer and the internet was working for about 2 min then it went away and I came upstairs and my mom said it wasn't working up here either. So I reset the router and modem and it worked but then it went out again, and again etc.


BTW I would've posted sooner but I typed this out and it failed again. I turned off the router and am now running directly off of the cable modem.

Maybe the router is too hot?
I have had it on for 3 days... I don't know much about routers but it doesn't seem too hot. BTW I am not having problems now that I am running solely off of my cable modem...

i have my linksys router on 24/7 with out any problems.

maybe going to betgears website and looking to see if there is a firmware update for the router

I tried the firmware update but it still doesn't work. There is something wrong with the router I think... it was working fine until last night then it just started doing this... I need to have this working for tonight... anybody with any ideas plz say them. I am gonna be gone today but I will be here for a little longer. TY

Ok I lied..it worked for about 10min then went out again. The Wireless light keeps just turning off and then internet doesn't work on any of the computers even though only the 1 is on wireless.

Ok I think I have it working now...lets see how long it lasts this time...

what are you trying to do to fix it?? just in case it does work for future reference??
