Share Printer

Hey could u give me a run down of how to connect to my printer?
I have 2 computers through a wireless router....the one I need the printer for is using the wireless. The printer is hooked up directly to the other computer. Network name is Home, printer name is Printer. I have windows xp pro. TY

to share off a printer is easy

install file and print sharing
right click on the printer that the computer is installed on, sharing.

name the printer to what ever you want

then from the computer you want to connect to the printer

go to run

and type \\computer name\printer name
i.e \\GroundZero3\sally printer

make sure all the computers all in the same workgroup

dont use the wizards if you are using xp, they are horrible

Ok I have another problem. On the computer that is hooked up to the printer through the other computer it shows the printer but it won't print and when I got to \\Sherri\Printer it says it can't find it...

what os?

Assuming you have the printer shared you can also browse through the workgroup to the PC hosting the printer using network neighborhood or My Network Places depending on what OS your using and simply doubleclick on the printer. This will install the drivers on the spot. For this to work both need to be the same OS or you have to install driver for both OS's on the PC hosting the printer.

I have XP...I don't see the printer in my network places....I was using it b4 but recently it just doesn't show up...I am gonna try changin the name of my printer word says hp photosmart 7150 and the name of the printer is Printer

is the machine in the same workgroup as all the other machines?

rgr. I can access the files from the other computer just not the printer....
