Reinstalling Internet Explorer

Can't access a particular web site and was told that the difficulty could lie with my browser. Was advised to reinstall Internet Explorer. I'm using win2000 Pro and Int Explorer 6.0, SP1, 15.5MB. If I go to add/remove programs and uninstall I.E., how will I reinstall it. Should I download and save a copy?. I added the site's URL to the 'TRUSTED SITES' list in I.E. but this doesn't help. How can I check if I can receive cookies from the problem web site?

What version of IE do you have. The latest version is 6.0.2800.1106. If you do not have this version go to windows update and check for critical updates. It should let you download and install over the previous version.

In IE click on tools then internet options. Once there click on the privacy tab. This is where your cookies are controled. Once there click on edit. Under managed web sites is a list of sites that are blocked.
Also under the privacy tab click on the help tab and click contents and index. Under the index tab type in the keyword cookies then select changing settings. Here you will find the info you need to make changes if necessary.

Added the URL to the 'managed web sites' and allowed cookies. Still can't access site. Actually i'm accessing the site but I can't login with username and password. No help tab under the privacy tab. There are Import...., Advanced...., and Edit.... . Using Win2k Prof. Notice something weird in recent times. Getting quite frequent updates from Microsoft. Got about five this week including one this morning and another has just downloaded. Is anyone else getting these frequent downloads?

I'm sorry I didn't state that clearly. In IE up at the top next to tools is where you will find the help button to which I was referring.

I don't do the automatic updates so I haven't gotten any updates from MS. I did check for updates though and there weren't any critical ones for me to download.

If you can get to the web site but can't log in perhaps they are having troubles with their server today. How long has this problem been occurring?

Appreciate that clarification. Been having this problem since last month and after the site's home page was redesigned. Site owner says my login works at his end so its seems to be malfunctioning at my end. Did a virus check on I.E. but nothing turned up. I can login at other web sites, Capslock key functioning ok. I'll see if any solution can be found at the other end.

Don't have Repair option. Selected I.E., Change/Remove tab. Can either uninstall or don't uninstall I.E. Using Win2000Prof. Recently also having difficulty logging in to yahoo mail. Need to make 2 attempts before I can login. First try always give 'Invalid Password'. Can get to the site ok.
