Problems connecting to wireless

On a machine on my network I have Win 98 installed. I installed the PCI card, drivers, and software. Fired up the Wireless software, and told it to connect to the access point I have set up.

I opened IE, and got nothing. Tried connecting to the router, nothing. Tried to ping the router, nothing.

I opened the router from my G5, and it showed that the card has been assigned an IP address.

I checked winipcfg on the 98 machine, and it showed it was all there too. However, I still cant do anything with the network.

Anyhelp is more than appreciated...

Does the router have security or encryption in operation? If so check that the settings are correct.

Check the signal strengh. It may be enough to send an IP, but not enough to communicate. Signal strengh can change, without moving either device.

Can the PC ping itself? Try pinging the IP that was issued and see if you get a reply.

Good Luck

wow, someone actually replied...

heres what it was.

Before we had the wireless card, we had a normal PCI card, and it had been assigned .100

Once we got the wireless router, the first computer I hooked up was my mac, which, got the address .100

Win98 saw that .100 had been assigned, and shut down networking for all of the interfaces, including the one I was trying to use.

I just released all the IPs (earlier I was only releasing the one on the wireless card), renewed all that were connected, and the world was at piece again.
