Proxy & Firewall ?

Im running XP media, my problem is this proxy (sas.r1.attbi.com)
keeps putting itself in as proxy to use & turns on "use proxy" in
internet settings. With this proxy in there i cant go anyplace
on the internet, i remove it & turn "use proxy" off but it's back
after shuting down or re-booting. How can I find & remove this once & for all?

I am using the firewall that is on the system or is part of my cable isp (comcast) I was told to find a better firewall, whats a good
"free" one to use?

Thanks for any help..

I don't know if it will fix your "proxy" problem.

You may have some spyware on your system or a virus or trojan that is hijacking your settings.

You may want to download and install Adaware (spyware), Spybot (spyware), and The Cleaner (trojans - free for 30 days) and do an online scan from Trend Micro HouseCall for viruses.

Make sure you update the definitons on the first 3 before running them.

No proxy

Booted up w/o a proxy messing things up today.

With ZAlarm installed i wont need a spybot blocker right? I have a
spybot find/destrory program installed & ran it, it found "a hole" in my IE, it showed a link to microsoft but i couldnt find a patch or explorer upgrade/update to d/l, is there one?

About uninstalling my firewall, i did turn it off but didnt try uninstall because it's part of the OS, can I uninstall w/o messing something else up?

This is not related to the above, why wont my folders open how i want them to, as a list & not as thumbs or icon? I open one, change "view as" to list but they keep changing back to thumbs or icons. I've tried customize but it makes me turn on
some menu thing that i dont like so i dont do the customize. Is there a fix for this? Oh yeah, OS is XP Media.

Thanks again, as you can tell im not very "hip" on this stuff yet

no you should continue to use spybot. make sure you keep it up to date and go to immunize and make sure that is blocking all the bad stuff. also get adaware (another adware/spyware remover).

i would also recommend getting an antivirus program like AVG.
