d:

That 865 chipset should support DDR RAM. You can check the poduct on the Gigabyte website for which DDR it will support, (PC2100, PC2700, etc.).

http://www.giga-byte.com/MotherBoard...8IPE1000-G.htm

Looks like Dual Channel capable, so you might want to get 2 sticks of PC3200 DDR (184-pin) SDRAM. it should also accept PC2700 and PC2100 as well, depending on your budget. 256MB sticks of PC3200 (400 mHz) should go for around $50 - $60 per stick.

The first P4 boards supported Rambus RDRAM RIMM memory. I believe this was just for the Intel 850 chipset.

Actually I just ordered 2 x 256 MB sticks of Rambus for a customer's 850 P4 set up. About $230, which is double,(quadruple?), the current pricing of DDR.

Hope this helps.

I believe this board can take the following:

4.0GB PC3200/PC2700/PC2100 DDR memory - 4 DIMMS
