a friend has lost her XP boot password and foolishle when she set upas a nother user she did not give her self anministrator rights so no the only way to get one the computer is as a user without administrative rights.

YOu cannot use the Run control usserpasswords2 , cannotmake or use a reste password disk, cannot restore windows. cannnot make a new administrative user. Short of uninstalling the OS I am stumped. any help anyone know how toget back administrative rights??? have to rest administrator password with knowing it?

Do a search for Linux and Administrator Password. my buddy had a linux boot disk that would boot up a linux kernal or what ever... and then allow you to create a new users with admin rights or reset the passwords of current users and adjust their current user level. Ill ask him for the name of it and post back.

Linux will boot from the CD and allow you to change passwords or delete them. You will not run the CD from windows!
I have a CD like that, works like a charm.

goto my link in the first reply... there you can download everything you need. It will make a floppy drive for you and you just follow the directions takes about 3 min to reset a password. Once you have the floppy made... put it in... reboot the machine... make sure in the bios its set to boot from floppy first... let it boot up and do its thing and follow the directions. You will want to read the directions carefully before you try to do it or print it out for help.

Once you click on the link in the first reply click the button that is labled boot disk... read all of that stuff... its directions... at the bottom you will see images you can download for floppy or CD. Take your pick
