Changing LED Display Numbers?

Some machines come with LED number displays which show the original CPU speed (not real-time speed). Older machines came with a 'turbo' button which boosted the displayed speed from incredibly slow to just really slow.

Pulling the fascia plate off a computer with one of these displays revealed the back side of the Digital LED display, oftentimes with a series of jumpered connections.

?) Is it possible to change the numbers displayed on the LED by manipulating the jumpers? If so, where does one begin to find instructions as to how it's done?

Thanks,

KJ

I remember when I was a kid I had a radio shack 150 in 1 electronics kit that had those number displays in it. All that was required was to apply the proper voltage across thos led segments to make them light up. You might try looking at the shack for a replacement led display and on the back of the package it might show the correct pin connections.

I remember these. I am sure this is an old box.

Unfortunately all LED displays are not made alike. So the jumper configuration is going to be different from one kind to another. See if you can get some sort of name and model number off the LED board.

I can remember a small peice of paper maybe 2x2 inches with a diagram of the jumpers / LED's that was generally tucked between the LED board and the front panel.

Also you can start moving jumpers around and watch their affect. You may figure the pattern out.
