YES, if you have the 98SE upgrade version. But it is usually better to do a complete installation on a blank HD. Go to the control panel and open system> device manager and write down the brand/model of display adapter, modem, sound card and then find the drivers on the internet. Put the drivers on floppy disks or cd and the you'll have them when you install 98SE.
Look for drivers here:

Yes, u can. If u are using a Win 98 SE (Full Pack, not OEM) simply insert the CD in the drive and boot from it. Follow instructions on screen for installing WIN 98 SE once the installation starts.

If you have Win 98 SE (OEM pack) then first rename your existing windows directory to any other name and then rename "WIN.com" to a different name. Insert your Win 98 SE CD and start installation procedure. REMEMBER do not turn off your PC once u have renamed windows directory and "WIN.com" without starting the Win 98 SE installation immediately, else u will not be able to boot into Windows any longer. As a safety make a rescue diskette before starting the process (Settings->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs->Startup Disk) .

heyal,

truckpuller do you have the entire make model for motherboard?
motherboard.org list Hsing tech and a few other places as well but without more info its hard to tell.

just a curious suggestion/question... if your setting it up why not just start fresh with clean drive but back up the files you need from there 1st to other drive or to disk/cd.

anyhow as above it will work installing over 95.

good luck,
sb

I agree with Southern Belle. Do a search for *.inf files and other driver type files on your system. Save them to another drive. Research other files you may need. Heck save the whole Windows directory on another drive.

Do a fresh install of 98 SE..

Check windowsupdate.com to see if they have any drivers for ya..

When the hardware wizard comes up then point it to the files you saved on the spare hard drive. It will sift through the ini files you have or the Windows folder if you choose to save this and find what you need.

good luck
