Windows 98se Internet connection problem
Ok I have determined that my Internet connection is operating as it should. I have another computer and it connects just fine.
Ok on the 98se - I have the network card installed properly and I get an ip address from my DSL modem. It has DHCP abilities.. Anyhow it gives me the ip address 192.168.1.2 and the modem is 192.168.1.1
Ok all that is ok.. I open up winipcfg and everythings looks a ok! I open the command prompt and can ping the modem and myself..
Now I try to go on the Internet and the thing will just not load up!! I cannot ping anything outside on the internet from the command prompt either. It is like there is some file missing or something for the connection to go out of the modem and on to the Internet. Does that make since??
Like I said I know my internet is configured correctly in the modem config because my other computer connects just fine.
The browser is configured right too. I have done all of that. I am no amature by no means.
The computer had tons of adware.... Anyhow someone wanted me to eliminate it all so I did. After the elimination - well my internet doesn't work anymore.
I reinstalled the network adapters as well - to no luck. I even deleted the inf file on the hard drive so Windows couldn't reinstall automatically - then did a fresh install - NO LUCK!!
Is there maybe some file that got corrupt or possibly deleted that I need to replace?? What dlls control browsing the net??
PLEASE HELP!!
