yeah, it's WAAAAY faster than my DSL....but one question

even when I'm not doing any internet activity, the light on the cable modem keeps on blinking pretty rapidly, the "data" light, and the WAN light on my router does that too, like the modem was sending in packets to teh router....it didn't do that with my DSL...what is up?

It's probably ARP traffic. I get about 2KB/sec of it constantly.

What were your speeds with DSL? How much will it slow down when everyone in the neighborhood is using it?

I have the same "problem" with my cable modem, the light is always flashing even when I'm not usin the itnernet on any of the PCs. I don't think that it slows down ur connection or anything like that, so don't worry about it.

700 ain't too bad but like you I love my 3Mb cable connection ( when I am actually at home and able to use it). That's the one thing that really sucks about travelling for a living. Everytime I turn around I am stuck on dialup.

One cable support tech told me that the flickering lights do not necessarily mean that data is moving. It is the system pinging.
The cable system staying in contact with the modem.
