Lindows -let us know your impression

Lindows remains one of those Linux distributions that I have no time to test drive. If you have tried Lindows please share your experience here.

C
I had the Lindows Dev. 'Retail' box sent from the deal a few weeks back.
Still haven't had the time to 'play' with it but I did look at there compatibility chart at there site. I was not real inspired by what I saw.
Since Lindows is Linux based will any Linux software run on this distro?

I downloaded and burned Lindows 4.5 developers edition because it was free but I don't have anywhere to install it to.

I tried it, if it wasn't for the run as root issue, I'd recommend it to every newbie out there.... unfortunately, Lindows thinks that their "firewall" is good enough, and "requiring" an additional user besides root is too much trouble

The install was EXTREMELY easy, I think I counted less than 6 clicks of the mouse to fully install.

Very nice interface, an apt-get style of adding programs with a very friendly user interface, nice icons , nice layout of the programs. However they DO rename some of the programs to make it easier for windows converts to know what they do..... a bit strange..

All in all, it's pretty nice, not exactley cheap though, and like I stated, the run as root thing REALLY bugs me. When installing , you must select ADVANCED when you get to the root password area on the install..... then it allows you to add more users besides root...

Personally, I'll keep recommending Fedora or Mandrake or Suse for all the newbies I run into
