I tried it, if it wasn't for the run as root issue, I'd recommend it to every newbie out there.... unfortunately, Lindows thinks that their "firewall" is good enough, and "requiring" an additional user besides root is too much trouble
The install was EXTREMELY easy, I think I counted less than 6 clicks of the mouse to fully install.
Very nice interface, an apt-get style of adding programs with a very friendly user interface, nice icons , nice layout of the programs. However they DO rename some of the programs to make it easier for windows converts to know what they do..... a bit strange..
All in all, it's pretty nice, not exactley cheap though, and like I stated, the run as root thing REALLY bugs me. When installing , you must select ADVANCED when you get to the root password area on the install..... then it allows you to add more users besides root...
Personally, I'll keep recommending Fedora or Mandrake or Suse for all the newbies I run into
