Case fan brand

I was just wondering about case fans. I've ordered a new case (black, side window & fan) and am going to add a front and rear case fan, does anybody have any recomendations on brand or does it not really matter for extra cooling like that.
I was hoping to keep the noise down a bit without paying a ton for each fan.

In my opinion I wouldnt care about the brand, Just change the voltage going into the fan, Instead of 12v I like to use 7v. It has a nice breeze and almost no noise.

Just put the red wire to the red wire in the molex and black to the yellow.

Another option would be 5v red to yellow and black to black.

Look at www.nexfan.com for fans. This is where I buy at. They have all the specs for each model etc. Depends on what you need, low noise, high cfm etc. Ball bearing fans are the best but the cheaper sleeve bearing fans seem to work just fine.

To get 7V on your fan, you connect the black (ground) fan lead to a +5V source (usually Red wires) and the red fan lead to a +12V source (usually Yellow wires). If you did it as described above, the fan might spin backwards if it worked at all.

If your case will take them, go with 120mm fans rather than 80mm (more air flow at lower fan speed/lower noise levels). I've had good luck with Sunon, Nidec, YS Tech and Panaflow. Ball bearing types last longer than sleeve bearings, unless you go "top shelf" brand of sleeve-bearing, like Papst or Panaflow. Sleeve-bearing types are reputed to be a wee bit more quiet.

I usually go to the various fan manufacturer web sites and review their spec sheets, trying to get the most airflow below a certain decibel level.

Also, it seems like the 38mm thick versions offer higher static pressures (a little more push against air resistance... a little more draw through filtering media )than the usual 25mm thick fans, so check out both 25mm and 38mm versions of whatever diameter fans you can use.

I'd say Papst make the best fans, but are very expensive, looking for around £15 per 80mm fan over here. But to be honest it doesn't really matter, a fan is a fan and when you boil down to it, spending hours choosing a fan for a decibel here less and one cfm more here it does add up, but it's not worth the effort.

My fans? 2x Akasa shiny bloo LED fans. Looks very cool in the dark .

The best price per fan in cfm vs dB ratio is probably either Vantec or YsTech.
