MaxPC magazine just picked Logitech thruout as what they refer to as their "BEST of the best" choices---

5.1 Z-680
4.1 Z-560
2.1 Z-2200

No Klipsche in sight this time around---

I have the Z-2200's and they are a great product...

I have to say I'm in the Klipsch corner on this one. I've listened to them side by side and I still like the crispness of the Klipsch. I have now owned a set of Promedia 4.1 for just over a year now with a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card and I couldn't be more pleased with them.

From the reviews I've read, any of the Logitech THX certified systems are worthy of serious consideration. The Klipsch ProMedia's are nice if one can afford them.

While we're on the subject... does anyone know where (or if it's even possible) to purchase new replacement satellites for Logitech THX speaker systems? I recently bought a used Z-560 sub and 2 satellites for $50.00 at a local flea market but unfortunately the seller only had the 3 pieces. I've checked the Logitech site but can find nothing regarding replacement speakers.

Even with 2 speakers missing this was a good deal for me as this system sounds amazing compared to the Creative Cambridge SoundWorks 2.1 system I was previously using. Detailed high-end, much better stereo separation, more power handling and controls on the desktop instead of having to get under the desk to adjust the (single) bass level control.

I'm not going to give you the THX certification speech (it ain't what it used to be), but I will say that The ProMedia 5.1 Ultra's are well worth the effort if you can afford them. They are a step above your specified range, but you're getting the best PC MM system on the market.
