At Home Emergency !!!

I don't know why I did it but all I can say is thank God that I have a 266 MH not a 2.66 GH (no way I'm not that well off, if you know what I mean) running Red Hat which I am still learning to post this question.

I was trying to chance out my cpu fan, cause when I first got it I just knew how to put it to gether I did give to much atttention to the details.
What I have or should I say had ... was a PCChip set from 2001 and a 1.2 GH amd chip. My cpu was heating up to a max of F120/C52 (about) and my system was putting out about 30C's I donn't know what it was putting out exactly but all I know is that my cpu should be at 35-40c's (cause about two mounths ago every time I ran IE and WMP or I did a online or Norton virus scan my cpu (I was told) was over heating regestering about 120F and after about two years I was thanking GOD it didn't go out before. Well back to my main story I was switching out the fan but I didn't take my mother board out of the case (like a dump a$$ I letft it in casue I just thought what the hell nothing could happen to this cheap a%$ board no problem.) ???But to my suprise the wost did happend. I think my mother board shooted out ???cause when I cut it on Or should I say tryed to cut it on just the fan came on and my SVGA screen just showed a amber lite not a green lite which is what it usually show when every things ok. So I called a round my neiborhood to the local teches to try to get an oppinon on what happend (But I didn't tell them about try to exchange out the cpu fan cause I was embaressed about how I did it. They said something about the memory or power supply.

Iknow its not:
The PS cause the fan was running but that not comply elinated the MEMory : the mobo would have beeped right

???Oh yea did I tell you I tryed to get it out with some needle nose plyers and a flat head scew driver. ??? IOl but I'm crying on the inside.

??? So My question is what happend to my MOBO cause I think I proably (what am I saying) I hit the MObo with my METAL plyers and hit the mobo may have shorted out ???and I'll was getting a new system but I want this one (well not this one cause its LINUX and I heard its great but so far it hassn't amazed me yet give me ( I have RD hag 7.3 (Iknow its ) some over priced, BSD have'in, Bills little that growning with the PC tech not like Unix which can run on a old Commador 64(Naw just kindding but it can almost run on anything) any day. Cause its every body uses it and hey all I can say is Weeeee!!!! ( me jumping off a bridge like everyone else) baby to be working so I'll have my own home network.

So sorry this post is so long cause not all techs are readers.
So thats why I marked my problems with ???

Plese help me
Oh yea and thanks in Adv ...

if you hit the board with pliers or the screwdriver hard enough, that could easy damage it, check around for visible damage, and if there is any, you are probably sol]

make sure you hooked the monitor back up right too, and didnt bump your video card loose, cause those are also likely, and usually harmless mistakes

I would take the fan off, make sure the CPU is fully seated, re-attach fan, make sure all the cables are tight and cards seated, pop out the memory and reseat it as well.

If you cannot get to post after that, good luck.

always a possibility that you crushed the core trying to seat a new heatsink on the system while it was " in the box" due to space restrictions and lack of being able to see exacty what you are doing.

Suppose you probably don't have a spare CPU laying around to test with either....
