Kids Soldier in Iraq Needs advice on system purchase.

OK I'm sittin here in Balad Iraq and I've been looking at a couple systems online since I'm in the market for one. I want to use it mostly for storage and bad to the bone editing of my digital photography and video. What has interested me so far is the Sony RZ64G. Its about 1600$$ but I'm hopeing you can give me advice that will allow me to do better. Here are some specs and though I dont know much about PCs or about what I actually NEED for what I wanna do, many of these specs seem impressive to me.

-Intel Pent 4 Proc 3.2Ghz with Intel Hyperthreading Tech
-800MHz Front side Bus
-512 L2 On-Die Cache (dont really know what that is)
-1GB PC2700 333MHz DDR RAM ( I hear I could get 400MHZ)
-200GB 7200 RPM Ultra ATA/100 Hard Drive
-DVD+ and - RW / CD-RW Multi Format Drive
-CD-RW Drive
-3.5 Floppy 1.44MB Floppy Disk Drive
-nVIDIA GeForce FX5600 w/TV-Out
-Giga Pocket MPEG2 Realtime Encoder/ Decoder Board with TV Tuner and Remote
-Creative SoundBlaster Audigy LS
-Gigabit Ethernet: 10Base-T/100Base-TX/1000Base-TX
Ethernet
-Multimedia Card Reader
-V.90 Compatable data/fax modem
-Front/rear i.LINK [IEEE 1394] Connections
-7 USB 2.0 Ports
-Analog Video Input for 8mm or VHS
-IR remote control and Reciever/ IR Blaster
-Windows XP Media Edition

Well thats about the package, it comes with speakers and a sub but no moniter. Can you show me something comparable for less or including a moniter? I have an Olympus C-5050 Digital SLR camera with a ton of attachments and I'll be doing all kinds of photography. Also I want to make some fun movies and videos for people and while I'm at it I want my PC to be like the brain for my entire entertainment setup including TV stereo etc. Anyways hey thanks for any advice that you give. Peace.

Welcome to TechIMO!!!

First of all: THANKS for your service!!

Looking over those specs IMO that system will do well for your purposes and I can't really suggest anything better for less money.

Someone else here will probably come up with something.

Hey Bill,
I'm honored to give this service and I'm glad to see your appreciation. People like you make this all allot easier to take. I feel like I've DONE something here and I feel the heart of patriotism beating strong. It makes a differance. Thanks for the input on my system choice and yes hopefully someone will be able to give me some more insight.

you are definatley going to want to get the 400mhz ram becaue with an 800mhz quad pumped syestm bus 200x4 that same 200 mhz bus will be double pumped for the ram 200x2 so you will need the 400 mhz

NEWG_I, where are you shopping? Just curious since I can't find that system. The specs look decent for the money.

Welcome to TechIMO and thanks for your service. Great picture!!

OK 400 MHz Ram...got it. I'll get it. Not sure where I'll get it but at least I know to look. lol. Thank you HeadBand I do appreciate it. Got any other recommendations?
Hey osPrey4 I found this system on TigerDirect.com. I'm just kinda searching at random but with an idea of what I want. Mass speed and power in a system biult for multimedia and imaging. Any input on a system, moniter, or other things and thangs will be great. God bless America. Peace.
