Gaming Reccomend/Help me choose a digital camera :\..

Hi, I currently own a business in a local mall, been there going on four years, and we are moving to a new location (still in the mall), and thus are expanding our product line. It is a personalized gift shop. We make custom t-shirts, mousepads, mugs, in memory of keepsakes, framed personalized poems, etc. Because of the size of the store, we havent be able to do on-spot images. Customers need to bring in a photograph for us to us, once we get into the new store, in roughly a month.. We will now offer onspot photo shooting. We have everything we need (sitting area, backdrop, etc) Except the camera . Now keep in mind, this is a family operated business and we arent exactly millionaires, plus with the move, its really put a decent dent in the bank. So Im trying to keep the price under 200 preferably. I need some help on what to go with. Its going to be used as a still image camera, with the customer approx. 5-6 feet away. Since we print our images sometimes upto 11x17 for t-shirts and such, we need something that wont show too much pixelation. Before we moved into our current setup, we were at a smaller mall, and did photos on the spot, the space was quite bigger and the rent was lower... however the traffic was slow. So now we moved into here, paying a couple hundred more a month and the space is relatively smaller. However, more traffic. But there isnt enough space to do on-spot photos. We used to use a HP Photosmart 210 and 215. The quality was OK. But, now that we are more established, we need something a bit more professional for when we start offering onspot again. Anyone know of any decent cameras with some good reviews/ratings that has good quality and easy to use? I've been looking at the Canon PowerShot A300. Seems good. What would you all suggest?

I'd suggest you spend closer to 500 so you won't be in the same spot next week. Need to get a 5meg a pixel to that the good quality...

hmmm... Yea, I see that. Did some research and looking at sample images from some different cameras in the 200 range. Why is it that all these images from 3.2mp cameras dont look any better than my hp 215 at 1.2mp. yech. Well. Looks like I have no choice but to go higher. Whats the cheapest price/performance camera out there, that will show hair without bluring. (go look up a few 'sample' images from 3.2mp camera, and look at the hair, ull see what I mean)

You will be hard pressed to get a 3.2 MP camera to do 11x17 without pixelation. You will probably need at least 5MP.

Check out the forums at www.dpreview.com Very active digital camera forum there. They can help you out.

Get the digital camera you can afford that has the BEST lens---you can also shoot with an inexpensive but very high quality film camera and develop to CD only---there is probably a store right in your mall that can 1 hour it for you...

Hm, well film wont work, because we do all of our products on the spot, guarenteed done in a half hour. But, Thanks for the idea. I took Steve R Jone's adivce and got a 5mp one. Anyways, I ended up choosing the Kodak DX4530. Went to best buy, played with it every which way for an hour, then came home and got a great deal on it through eBay (new, sealed, even with a 30-day return) I can deal with $127 more in my pocket . It seems pretty nifty I'll let ya guys know how it goes

I've been thinking hard about getting a Canon G5 for about $500. Canon makes excellent digital photography equipment even though their 35mm SLRs suck.
