event viewer not working
Greetings, I have a client that's running small business 2000 server. We have an issue where the event viewer is not working. If I right click on my computer and select manage, the management window comes up. In the left pane you can see system tools and below that you can see the event viewer listing. When I expand the event viewer, you can then see application, security, system etc... However, when I highlight application, security, system to view the logs, nothing shows up in the right pane. Basically I can’t view the logs. I have even tried to reinstall the event viewer snapin. I have never see anything close to this problem before and have couldn’t even begin to think what might be causing this. Any ideas? PS. We did have a virus outbreak recently. I am running Symantec corp eddition as well as Symantec antivirus for exchange. Im trying to troubleshoot a problem with antivirus for exchange and since the logs are pulled from the event viewer I have not way to see whats going on.
