Opps=Q/F of HD=What can i use to UNFORMAT?

Hi ppl,

Just did A: format d: /q on what i thought was 2nd hard drive...

Wrong, turns out c: was partitioned and the new HD hadn't been seen! (this is what happens when u take over a job some1 else has started, to much taken for granted :-( )

So what program do I need to have to UN-format....( cant find the old dos command UN-format )

As DOS saw the c & d drives, it must be fat32 right!( on boot it was running xp home )

Never done this b4 so am so far out there ( job on line type thing ).

Ideas plz.

Will read when sober :-D

I don't think you'll be able to use the old DOS version of UNFORMAT. What version of DOS did you FORMAT the HDD with?

I think you can use Partition Magic to recover drives that have been formatted.

If I recall correctly, you can create some bootdisks w/ PM and there is a feature that you can recover previous FATs. No need to switch HDD's around, just create the bootdisks.

I wish I could give you a step-by-step. It's been awhile since I booted w/ the PM bootdisks. I can say w/o a doubt, that if you boot w/ them, you will see an option recover a previous FAT.

Your only other option is to try and Google for something like "data recovery" or something along those lines.

Wish I could help more.
