Cat5e/Cat5/Cat6?

Ok, were getting a T1 line here at work and I need a 50 ethernet cable to run from where the phone lines are to where the linksys router/hub is. Im on newegg and I see these generic cables and I know I need a cat5 cable but what is cat5e and cat6? I just need a cable to hook in the router by the phones to the linksys router/4 port hub.

To my knowledge, Cat5e allows for longer cable lengths, and Cat6 is required for gigabit ethernet.

But I'm sure someone who really knows the ansrwer will chime in!

You probably only need 5, but 5e is the same price or close now

cat5e is shield better then stranded cat5 which means your running it thru a office near plugs and power adaptors then cat5e is what you want as it will stop or prevent magnetic fields from these distorting data .

Do not run it near flourescent lights, do not staple it, do not coil the excess into a neat coil. coil it in a figure 8 fashion. Any of the previous can cut the speed of your throughput. Just because the 100 light is flashing does not mean that is the actual speed.
